SMACKDOWN: 02-15-13

SEGMENT:  Big Show makes his way to the ring and starts Smackdown off with a promo stating Del Rio hasn’t and can’t pin him.  Surprisingly it is interrupted by Chris Jericho?  Jericho brings up their tag team history and that he plans on winning the Elimination Chamber Match.  If Big Show wins the World Heavyweight title then it’d be Show vs Jericho at Wrestlemania for the title.  Booker T comes out and likes the sound of that so he books Big Show vs Chris Jericho for Smackdown tonight.

MATCH:  Randy Orton vs Mark Henry – Here’s another match featuring Orton vs Henry.  A warm up match of sorts since both these men are in the Elimination Chamber Match.  The overall match was very slow paced.  Too slow for my liking and I was waiting for it to pick up a little.  Eventually they fight to the outside where Orton grabs a chair and starts beating down Henry.  Henry is able to counter and hit Orton with the World’s Strongest Slam.  Mark Henry is still being booked strong heading into the PPV.

MATCH:  Layla vs Tamina – I like Tamina because I feel like she doesn’t fit the “Diva” mold.  I feel like she takes wrestling seriously and is there to compete.  I don’t like the idea of calling the female wrestlers divas.  It’s hard to take them seriously.  My favorite female wrestlers are the ones that can actually wrestle.  Ladies like Tamina, Natalya, and I guess Layla.  They’re the last of the great wrestlers because all the other well known divas left the company.  Hell, Naomi surprised the hell out of me with her match versus Eve at TLC.  I’d like to see her get pushed in the women’s division.  Enough of that rant.  Tamina picked up the victory with her top rope splash.

SEGMENT:  The Rock’s music hits and he shows up empty handed.  He says CM Punk has made a trade.  Punk gets the title for 6 days and Rock gets to give Punk the beating of his life.  Punk shows up on the titan tron and says he wants Rock to get disqualified or counted out.  Rock calls himself a man and Punk a little boy and then declares he will win at the Elimination Chamber.

MATCH:  Brodus Clay and Tensai vs Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal –  This match is to further the relationship between Clay and Tensai which when we look back on it, will probably end up going nowhere.  There two big guys that have nothing going on so they got paired together.  Clay and Tensai win and begin “dancing”.  The highlight here is that The Shield’s music hits.  They come down and destroy Clay and Tensai.  They then promise the same result at The Elimination Chamber when they face Team Super Faces.

MATCH:  Miz vs Cody Rhodes – Miz is injured from when Cesaro attacked him after his match.  Rhodes spends the majority of his time focusing on Miz’s shoulder.  And I think it’s unfitting for the Miz to be using the figure four lock after Flair “handed” it to Miz.  I think most people know it should have been Ziggler but for whatever dumb reason, it was given to Miz who picks up the victory by submission.  Whatever, I guess it’s better than the Skull Crushing Finale.

MATCH:  Jack Swagger vs Zack Ryder –  Ok, I feel sorry for Ryder.  No matter how much this guy tries, he just can’t catch a break.  He lost on RAW and no doubt will just job out again to Swagger.  Which is what happens when Swagger picks up the victory due to submission.  Zeb Colter picks up the mic and cuts another good promo.  This will be a nice fit for Swagger.

MATCH:  Big Show vs Chris Jericho – Big Show is pretty dominate throughout the match.  At one point he goes up on the ropes for a diving elbow but Jericho moves out of the way and hits a lionsault.  Jericho tries to lock in the Walls of Jericho but Show it too big.  When Big Show gets up he hits Jericho with the WMD and picks up the victory.  Del Rio stands up on the ramp and the show ends with a stare down.
