Michael Keaton is Batm… Birdman

March 6, 2013

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu (BabelAmores Perros) has assembled a fun cast for his upcoming comedy Birdman.  The film centers on an actor who once played an iconic superhero, and now faces troubles with his ego and family as he prepares to mount a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim past glory.  Although Iñárritu’s previous work is known for it’s drama, he’s nabbed some top-notch comedic talent to bring this comedy to fruition.  Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis are all on board.

Keaton is set to play the lead role of the washed up comic book movie actor in Birdman, and Stone will play Keaton’s daughter fresh out of rehab and now working as his assistant.  Naomi Watts (who starred in Iñárritu’s 21 Grams) will portray an actress in the play, and Galifianakis is poised to portray the production’s “conniving producer.”

The plan is to begin filming in early April.  Emma Stone will have to work around her schedule since she’ll also be doing Amazing Spiderman 2.  However, this film is now under my radar due to it’s plot and it’s casting.
