Fede Alvarez begins writing sequel to EVIL DEAD remake

March 9, 2013

THE EVIL DEAD has been in the news a lot lately.  Both with the remake coming out very soon and Sam Raimi still teasing fans he’ll make a fourth in his original series.  While the TriStar and FilmDistrict remake doesn’t hit theaters until April 5, director Fede Alvarez revealed to a sold out SXSW crowd that he’s already begun writing a sequel to his remake of EVIL DEAD, starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore and Jessica Lucas.

The film just had it’s World Premier at the film festival in Austin, Texas, and the reactions have been positive.

So the question is, if Raimi gets off his butt and makes EVIL DEAD 4 already, can the two Evil Dead universes co-exist?  And could they bump into each other?  I was personally hoping ASH would fall from the sky during the third act of the remake and save the kids, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening.  We’ll just have to see what the future holds.
