Jurassic Park: BTS Making of the Venom Spitter

March 10, 2013

Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking Jurassic Park will be re-released in 3D on April 5th. To get you in the mood for the re-release, the Stan Winston School has put together another great behind-the-scenes video (similar to their Terminator 2 video) that features the making of the animatronic Dilophosaurus.  You know, that classic scene with Newman, the rain, the fork in the road, and the “shaving cream”.

Mechanical FX Designer Rick Galinson had only been working at the Stan Winston Studio for about a year when he volunteered to work on the animatronic Dilophosaurus (aka The Spitter).  In the video above Rick provides insightful commentary over some amazing never-before-seen footage of the making of The Spitter puppet.
