“Star Wars VII” Location scouts in Scotland?

May 5, 2013

The Sun has run a story claiming that J.J. Abrams will be taking Star Wars: Episode VII to Scotland. According to the site, parts of the highly anticipated sequel will be shot both in the Highlands and the Isle of Skye.

A source reportedly tells them that, “Location bosses feel Scotland possesses stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops. They will look great on the big screen and the rock formations will replicate the perception of mountainous planets. It will be the first time Star Wars has ever been shot north of the border.”

This isn’t too difficult to believe since The Dark Knight RisesSkyfall and World War Z have all filmed key scenes there in recent years. Consider this a rumor for now until it’s officially confirmed.  I’m just happy that they’re using real locations instead of green screen and computer generated environments.
