“Star Wars Episode VII” heads to UK’s Pinewood Studios

June 21, 2013

Many assumed that STAR WARS EPISODE VII would end up shooting in the UK’s Pinewood Studios, but it has now been confirmed by Screen Daily that this is indeed where J.J. Abrams’ sequel will call home while shooting in the country.

Production is already moving to the studio in preparation for an early 2014 shoot, and this news should come as no real surprise since all six past installments in the Star Wars franchise were filmed at UK studios such as Elstree, Shepperton, Leavesden and Ealing.

This isn’t the only high profile movie to choose Pinewood, as Guardians of the GalaxyThe Avengers 2 and Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella are all gearing up for UK shoots there as well.

Whether this will be the case for Episode VIIIEpisode IX and the planned spin-off’s remains to be seen.
