Depp Not Under Contract For “Lone Ranger” Sequels

July 1, 2013

Speaking with E! Online, THE LONE RANGER star Armie Hammer confirms that he has signed on for a couple more films as the iconic, lead character. “But we’ll see. It all kind of depends on this one.”

Ruth Wilson (who plays Rebecca Reid) also signed the three-picture deal. “I’m signed for three. So if there is another one, it would be lovely to be in it but you never know. Hopefully, fingers crossed.”

Surprisingly, the actor who didn’t sign the multi-film contract was Johnny Depp (Tonto), whose name has headlined the movie’s marketing. “I think it was a one-shot deal,” the actor said. However, Johnny Depp does admit that he’d be willing to do another installment. “If they started talking sequel on this I’d be ready to go in a second.”

Of course, Johnny Depp is already headlining another Disney franchise in Pirates Of The Caribbean, with the fifth installment hitting theaters on July 10th, 2015.

The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Ruth Wilson, Tom Wilkinson and William Fichtner. The film is set to hit theaters July 3rd.
