NECA Gains License For “Planet Of The Apes” Toys

July 23, 2013

In addition to landing the license for the Godzilla reboot line, NECA also revealed they had landed the rights to do toys based on The Planet of the Apes, but didn’t get into the details… Until now.

From Twitter: “[They] have the Apes license for both modern & classic” and are “planning on doing a lot with it. [It was a] fave since childhood.” So Apes fan expect a line featuring toys from Twentieth Century Fox’s forthcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and its predecessor Rise of the Planet of the Apes, as well as the Charlton Heston starrer Planet of the Apes (1968), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971),Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) and Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973).

I currently don’t have any Planet of the Apes figures on my shelf, so I for one, am excited.

NECA also plans to continue the Alien universe with 35th Anniversary figures based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic. NECA revealed that they’re developing Dallas (Tom Skerritt) in spacesuit, as well as the cat Jones.

Other figures in the Aliens line will be Bishop and the Queen Alien.
