Screenwriter Dean Lorey Revisits “Jason Goes To Hell”

August 19, 2013

On August 13th, 1993, the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise was unsuccessfully put to sleep for the second time. The first time was Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and the second time was New Line‘s Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday.

This was done by the studio to set up Freddy vs. Jason. The only problem with that is it took 10 years! Even the studio got tired of waiting and made the awkward Jason X.

But all of that started with New Line’s first stab at making a Jason Voorhees movie. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film’s release, The Final Friday screenwriter Dean Lorey wrote a blog (click here) reminiscing on the making of the film.

It’s a good read for any Friday the 13th fan.
