“American Psycho” Is Now Being Made Into A TV Series

September 11, 2013

Deadline reports that American Psycho is the next classic movie being turned into a television series.

FX has put in development an American Psycho drama series that takes place decades after the events in the 2000 movie starring Christian Bale and the novel from which the film was based.

The drama series will be set in present day. It will feature serial killer Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50s but as outrageous and lethal as ever, taking on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal — a next-generation “American Psycho”.

Lionsgate Films produced the original film and is co-producing the series with FX through Lionsgate TV.

The project will be written by Stefan Jaworski who will executive produce with Allison Shearmur and Ed Pressman.

When will enough be enough? First Norman Bates (Bates Motel) and Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal) were rebooted on TV and there’s already series plans for Scream, Outbreak, The Exorcist, Rosemary’s Baby, and 12 Monkeys.

I’d only have faith in a American Psycho television series if they somehow convinced Christian Bale to star in it.
