“Little Miss Sunshine” Directors Working On Mr. Rogers Biopic

September 30, 2013

The newest biopic of Mr. Rogers is based on journalist Tim Madigans 2006 memoir, I’m Proud of You. The film will tell the story of Madigan’s deep friendship with Rogers that spanned from 1995 until Rogers’ death in 2003. They met while Madigan was on assignment for a story, and continued to bond as Rogers helped him through depression and his relationship with his own father.

EW confirmed that Little Miss Sunshine helmers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are set to direct the picture, which is being financed by Big Beach Films.

The Motel Life scribes Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue are co-writing the script.

A while ago, we reported on another Mr. Rogers movie titled A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, which would chronicle his early life and work. Treehouse Pictures is currently still in the script phase with no director yet attached.
