Is Ben Affleck’s Batman Suit Blue And Gray?

November 12, 2013

Filmmaker Kevin Smith revealed that Batman vs Superman director Zack Snyder showed him an image of Ben Affleck wearing the new Batman costume on his weekly Hollywood Babble-On podcast. When vaguely describing what he saw, he mentioned that it won’t be “matrixy black armor,” like previous Batman films.

“I saw the costume, more than that I saw him [Ben Affleck] in the costume… I don’t want to give anything away cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this… I instantly bear hugged him. You have not seen this costume in film before. Because every other movie has done this matrixy black armor thing… There wasn’t a single nipple on this [frick]ing suit man. I think everyone is gonna be like ‘Holy Shit!’ We haven’t been down this path before. Even the Hardest core “[frick] this movie” person will be like ‘alright, I’m ready!'”

He added, “It seemed like it was very [edited] Influenced.” Influenced by who or what?

Well Batman-News received an update from a fan who was at the live recording and says that it was”Jim Lee” that was edited out.

Jim Lee is a comic book artist who started his Batman career with the series Batman: Hush (2002-2003). Hush consisted of 12 issues and was written by Jeph Loeb. In the series, Batman wears a blue and gray costume as seen above. However, Lee also re-designed the Batsuit for DC Comics‘ New 52 that is black and gray. Since Kevin Smith said it’s not “matrixy black armor”, is that a clue that it’s the old school blue and gray?
