Edgar Wright Directing A “Legit” Horror Movie?

November 27, 2013

Screenwriter Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, Oldboy) recently sat down with Jeremy Smith over at AICN and discussed a horror project he’s working on with director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, The World’s End).

The one thing I’ll say is that Edgar’s movies have a certain tone, and this one might be a little unexpected because the main thing we’re going for is scary. Smart and scary.” Smith clarifies that this means a film that’s “not-winking” at its audience and Protosevich replies, “Right. The real deal.

Edgar Wright’s movies have many horror/sci-fi elements to them, but they’re usually self aware and deliver fun entertainment. I consider Wright one of the best directors today and I’m curious how he’d handle a “serious” scary movie.

Edgar Wright is currently directing Marvel‘s Ant-Man film adaptation.
