Casting: NBC’s “Rosemary’s Baby” Miniseries Has Found Its Leading Lady

January 9, 2014

I consider the original 1968 version of ROSEMARY’S BABY to be near perfect. I cringed at the thought of a TV reboot (still do), but this casting news has eased the blow just a little.

Variety reports that Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) has been cast in the series. She will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a dark history. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.

NBC announced the “Rosemary’s Baby” miniseries back in July and revealed more details this December. The four hour miniseries will be directed by Agnieszka Holland (Treme, The Wire). Scott Abbott and James Wong are writing the screenplay based on the 1967 Ira Levin novel.

If you enjoy horror films and have never seen the original, I strongly recommend watching it before the miniseries comes out.
