“Gotham” TV Series Details; Villain And Batman Origin Stories

January 14, 2014

It appears that the GOTHAM television series will feature Batman after all…

But not until the end. Fox won the bidding war back in September and have spilled the details on their plans for Gotham. The series will show the origin stories for characters like The Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, The Joker and Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming the Caped Crusader.

Apparently, the plan is exactly like Smallville, in that the show will show how each character, good and bad, become the hero or villain we all know today, and Fox Chairman Kevin Reilly says the show will end when Batman puts on the cape for the first time.

It seemed that the show would follow Jim Gordon in his early years and not feature Batman, but it looks like plans have changed.

Fox Chairman Kevin Reilly told Hitfix:

“We see Detective Gordon, before he’s a commissioner, all the characters you know, Bruce Wayne, the Penguin, all of them. It’s Gotham teetering on the edge, and we see what makes these characters become who they are, [like] Catwoman. It’s an operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality to it.”

On Bruce Wayne:

“…we’re playing with [age] in casting… [Bruce will be a] young boy; my guess would be somewhere around 12.”
