“Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes” Sequel Gets A Release Date

Even though Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hasn’t hit theaters yet, work on the next sequel over at 20th Century Fox is under way. The studio has revealed that the third installment will hit theaters on July 29th, 2016. Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) will return to direct the sequel.

The third Planet of the Apes is currently untitled and Chernin Entertainment will return as producers.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Synopsis: “A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”

The upcoming sequel was directed by Matt Reeves and written by Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback.

Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer all star.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will hit theaters on July 11th, 2014.
