I, Frankenstein is having a frightening debut. It was expected to have an $11 to $14 million opening weekend, but it appears the film will actually only earn $7.7 million. The budget is estimated to be around $60 million, and that is not including marketing costs.

The picture currently has a rating of 5% over at Rotten Tomatoes. However, audiences gave the film a B Cinemascore. A score better than Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street (C) and Spike Jonze’s Her (B-). Odd.

Synopsis: “Set in a dystopic present where vigilant gargoyles and ferocious demons rage in a battle for ultimate power, Victor Frankenstein’s creation Adam (Aaron Eckhart) finds himself caught in the middle as both sides race to discover the secret to his immortality.”

I, Frankenstein was written/directed by Stuart Beattie and based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. The picture stars Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Socratis Otto, Mahesh Jadu, Caitlin Stasey and Aden Young.
