Remake Of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds” Finds A Director

March 3, 20140 Comments

THR reports that Universal Pictures has hired Diederik Van Rooijen to direct the remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film, THE BIRDS.

Van Rooijen is best known as the writer and director of the Dutch TV series Penoza, which has been remade for U.S. audiences as ABC‘s Red Widow.

The latest version of the script was written by Jonathan Herman. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing at Platinum Dunes, while Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman are producing for Mandalay Pictures.

Naomi Watts had been attached to star, but is no longer involved.

Because the remake of Psycho did really well… I’m sure the CGI birds will be horrific, in an unintentional way.
