The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann recently chatted with IGN during the BAFTA Game Awards about the upcoming movie produced by Sam Raimi, a potential game sequel, and more DLC.

Druckmann began by clarifying that the upcoming movie will be an adaptation of the game, though how it’ll be realized is unclear. “It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us,” he confirmed. “As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”

Druckmann went on to confirm that another piece of multiplayer DLC is set to arrive shortly, which will be the third part of the Season Pass. Lastly, the creator gave an update on if a possible sequel is still in the works.

“We don’t know yet,” Druckmann said. “We’re still trying to figure it out. We’re brainstorming some stuff, so we’ll see where that goes.”

Recently, Troy Baker (voice of Joel) revealed that he’d love to play the character in a live-action adaptation if asked, and that fans should trust Druckmann’s vision.

Some could argue that the game is cinematic enough and doesn’t really need a movie adaptation. Video game adaptations have been tough for Hollywood to tackle, but here’s hoping this will be one of the better ones.
