Will Scarlett Johansson’s Pregnancy Affect “The Avengers” Sequel?; Future Spin-off?

Ever since the announcement that Scarlett Johansson is pregnant, the internet speculated that her role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron would be fast-tracked, minimal or push back production. However, in the following interviews it appears that everything is going ahead as planned.

“Everything for Avengers 2 — we’re full steam ahead,” Johansson told The Huffington Post during the Captain America: The Winter Soldier press junket. “We start shooting in three weeks and I’m stunt training and we’re good to go. You know, I think it’s something that is [laughing] hard to talk about, exactly. You know, trying to skirt around your question exactly [laughs] — and, you know, doing a poor job of it. But, you know, like I said, everything is exactly on schedule.” Everything is going as planned? “[Laughs] Everything is going just fine. The Black Widow always wins and will continue to.”

“Well my first reaction was I was very happy for her and very excited for her,” Marvel Studio’s President of Production Kevin Feige told Collider“My second reaction was we’ve gotta move some pieces on the chess board around schedule-wise. But we didn’t change the script at all, which is sort of the most important thing for us in terms of the storyline. I think the goal is for us to sit here talking about the fact that you would never know that Black Widow was pregnant during the filming of the movie when you see the final version of Avengers 2.”

In other Black Widow news, SuperHeroHype also interviewed Kevin Feige about the possibility of Scarlett getting her own solo movie.

“I think the idea would be great,” Feige said. “We’ve got various outlines and ideas of where to take that. As Scarlett already said, there’s a big element that explores her back story in an upcoming Marvel feature. The question really is, ‘When will we take her out of the ensemble and have her do her own thing?’ As you saw in [Captain America: The Winter Soldier], as you’ll see in Avengers: Age of Ultron, she’s really the key to so much of the plot development.”

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1st, 2015.
