Arnold Says “Terminator: Genesis” Feels Like “T2: Judgement Day”

The only thing we really know about the plot for Terminator: Genesis is that it’ll be a time travel saga that addresses events from prior entries. Well, star Arnold Schwarzenegger recently revealed the tone of the script to Collider.

“The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2. It’s big. There’s hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It’s not a Thor type of movie, even though it’s the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, ‘Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?'”

Arnold also reveals that he was asked back because he’s still in shape. He will never be in “T2” shape again, but he looks better than most 66 year olds. Hopefully this film gets the Terminator series back on track.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing from a script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

Emilia Clarke is on board to play Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke will play John Connor. Jai Courtney is playing Kyle Reese. Meanwhile, J.K. Simmons plays an alcoholic detective trying to make sense of the events of 1984.

Terminator: Genesis will hit theaters on July 1st, 2015.
