The Tracking Board reports that Universal Pictures has turned to Jason Blum (Blumhouse Productions) to takeover their upcoming remake of the 1977 film The Sentinel.

The original, which was based on the book of the same name from author Jeffrey Konvitz, centers on a young woman who moves into a NYC apartment, only to discover that it may be the gateway to hell.

The remake was originally set to be shot by Universal back in 2003, but the studio struggled to find a way to get the project out of development hell.

Blum (Insidious, Paranormal Activity, The Purge) will produce alongside Kevin Misher and his Misher Films.

The Sentinel remake is currently looking for a screenwriter and director.
