Warner Bros. Moving Forward On “Goonies 2” & “Gremlins” Reboot

Hey you guys!!!

After years of development hell, it appears that Warner Bros. is moving forward on a sequel to The Goonies. Richard Donner has discussed a sequel for years but AICN reports that the project is on the fast track to production. Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus (Goonies screenwriter) and Donner are producing. They’re currently looking for a new writer and director. There isn’t much yet in terms of plot, but sources say the sequel will focus on the kids of the Goonies and work in cameos from the original cast.

However, that’s not all. A remake of Joe Dante’s Gremlins is also moving quickly.

In Dante’s ’84 film, a boy (Zach Galligan) inadvertently breaks three important rules concerning his new pet, and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town. The film spawned a sequel, the 1990 Gremlins 2: The New Batch, in which Gremlins take total control over the building of a media mogul. The two films have grossed more than $190M worldwide.

I don’t know if I really need another Goonies movie, but I love Gremlins. I’m just not looking forward to all the CGI creatures.
