April 8, 20140 Comments

Filmmaker IQ has compiled an impressive collection of storyboards form some of Alfred Hitchcock’s most iconic films.

Hitchcock was known for his extensive storyboarding down to the finest detail of production. It’s reported that the legend never bothered to look through the viewfinder of the camera. When you check out these storyboards, you’ll see why.

Hitchcock was an experienced illustrator and worked in advertising before his first job in the film industry; designing title cards for silent films. Perhaps this influenced his pre-visual style. However, he always hired a storyboard artist for his films. Some of these artists included Saul Bass and Harold Michelson.

This is merely a small taste. Besides for Psycho, the site also has Family Plot, Topaz, Marnie, The Birds, North By Northwest, Vertigo, Spellbound, Lifeboat, Shadow of a Doubt, Saboteur, Foreign Correspondent, and The 39 Steps. Too view the rest of these storyboard treasures click HERE.
