Director Mike Flanagan (Somnia, Oculus) has been hired to helm an adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel Gerald’s Game, reports Deadline.

Synopsis: “The story is about a woman who accidentally kills her husband while she is handcuffed to the bed as part of a bondageĀ game, and, following the subsequent realization that she is trapped with little hope of rescue, begins to let the voices inside her head take over.”

Flanagan co-wrote the script with Jeff Howard. Trevor Macy and his Intrepid Pictures banner are producing.
