“Twilight” Director Remaking “Beauty And The Beast” For Disney

THR reports that director Bill Condon has signed on to helm the upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast for Disney. The news comes following the theatrical success of Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent, which hit theaters last weekend. Expect Disney to start creating live-action versions of many of their classic films.

Condon has been rumored for months to direct the picture, and if Disney does the adaptation as another musical, he has experience with 2006’s Dreamgirls. His other credits include Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, Chicago, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 & 2 and The Fifth Estate.

I really loved Beauty and the Beast as a kid so they better not mess this one up. Now all we need is a live-action version of Bambi.
