Marvel Reveals New “Ant-Man” Director; Official Synopsis

June 8, 20140 Comments

After Edgar Wright stepped down as director of Ant-Man, a project he’s been developing for years, Marvel Studios scrambled to find a new director. Check out who it is and the new official synopsis below.

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed (Yes Man) will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay (Anchorman) contributing to the film’s script.

Synopsis: Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

So Ant-Man is now in the hands of the people who brought us Yes Man and Anchorman. It’s not Edgar Wright, but it’s not bad. Hopefully the film has landed on its feet and will be a successful kickoff to Phase Three of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
