Lionsgate and WWE Studios have released the first trailer for Leprechaun: Origins starring WWE superstar Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl as the titular villain made famous originally by Warwick Davis. Check out the trailer below.

Synopsis: “Leprechaun: Origins concerns two young couples who, while backpacking through the Irish countryside, quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be be when [a] town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”

The film is directed by Zach Lipovsky and written by Harris Wilkinson. It also stars Stephanie Bennett (Grave Encounters 2), Andrew Dunbar (Alien Trespass), Melissa Roxburgh (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days) and Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs Jason).

Leprechaun: Origins will be available on Digital HD, Video On Demand, and Pay-Per-View on August 26th. The seventh Leprechaun movie, and the first to star Dylan Postl will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD on September 30th.

The fact that it takes place in Ireland is pretty cool. I don’t recall any of the other films ever actually taking place there. Las Vegas, space and the hood, yes. Ireland, no. However, without Warwick Davis, it’s hard to get interested.
