Mandalorians & Sith Witches Possibly In “Star Wars Episode VII”

Recent rumors have been swirling that the Jedi in Star Wars Episode VII will be up against a band of mercenaries. Latino Review reports that those mercenaries could be Mandalorians. The site adds, “Reports from set claim to have spotted some black and silver/chrome troopers. We haven’t been able to confirm if these troopers were Mandalorians or just a new group of Imperial Storm Troopers.”

If you’re unsure of what a Mandalorian is, then perhaps the armor looks familiar. It was worn by bounty hunter Boba Fett. Another Mandalorian is the character Sabine Wren from the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels cartoon.

From Wookiepedia: “In their early years, Mandalorian culture revolved around battle, with war being a source of honor and pride in their community.  The leader of the Mandalorians, known as the Mand’alor, translates to “Sole Ruler” and presented as “Mandalore” in Basic. Throughout their history, the Mandalorians often allied with the Sith, perhaps most notably the Sith Lord Exar Kun, and held a certain distrust and general dislike for the Jedi Order.

However, they wouldn’t hesitate to cooperate with the Jedi if a partnership between the two groups was mutually beneficial. In later years, the Mandalorians moved away from their obsessively war-like and conqueror ways and instead, most became bounty hunters and mercenaries, selling their skills to various individuals and factions in the galaxy.”

Latino Review also reports that a Sith Witch/Witches will appear. This could possibly be the Nightsisters of Dathomir, which was the home planet of Darth Maul. Perhaps this is the rumored female villain that was circulating a few weeks ago.

From Wookiepedia: “A Nightsister Sith witch was a Dathomiri Nightsister who served the Sith and the Galactic Empire. Most learned to wield lightsabers and could conjure Force lightning, and their natural empathy with non-sentient animals made them powerful assets to their masters.”

Consider this only as speculation and a rumor until something more official pops up. In the meantime, what do you think of Mandalorians and a Sith Witch appearing in Episode VII?

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker all star.

Star Wars Episode VII is directed by J.J. Abrams and will hit theaters on December 18th, 2015 unless delayed by Harrison Ford’s broken leg.
