Shane Black Directing New “Predator” Reboot

June 25, 20140 Comments
THR reports that 20th Century Fox is rebooting the Predator franchise. The studio has hired director Shane Black (Monster Squad, Iron Man 3) to write the initial treatment and direct. A fun fact, Black appeared in Predator (1987) as the character Hawkins.

The actual script will be written by Black’s long-time collaborator, Fred Dekker, who wrote Monster Squad. John Davis, who produced the original Predator with Joel Silver and Lawrence Gordon, will also produce the reboot.

I wonder what they’re defining as “reboot”. Is this a film that will try and get the franchise back on its feet like 2010’s Predators tried to do, or is this a remake of the 1987 original that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger? We don’t need a remake of Predator. However, I would be interested in a new sequel that explored the Predator’s home planet and culture more.

What do you guys think? Are you up for a Predator “reboot” and what would you like to see in the next entry?
