Bruce Campbell & Sam Raimi Developing An EVIL DEAD TV Series

During the Hall H panel discussion for The Last of Us movie adaptation at the San Diego Comic-Con, director Sam Raimi told the crowd that he and his brother Ivan Raimi, along with star Bruce Campbell (Ash), are currently writing a television series based on THE EVIL DEAD.

The remake directed by Fede Alvarez hit theaters back in April of 2013 and earned $100M worldwide for Columbia Pictures. The “remake” is apparently the third sequel in the series following Army of Darkness. Raimi was recently rumored to be directing Army of Darkness 2 and that the original trilogy would tie-in with the “remake” series for a mash-up featuring Ash and Mia fighting Deadites.

So is Army of Darkness 2 still on or has that script been turned into this new show? Will we ever see Bruce Campbell reprise the role of Ash? Raimi has been teasing Evil Dead 4 for over a decade, so I wouldn’t hold your breath when it comes to stuff likes this. However, television series are the new remakes, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Now that Burn Notice is over, I’d love it if Campbell returned to TV as Ash to make up for the past 20 years without Evil Dead sequels.
