Patrick Wilson & Other Actors No Longer In Marvel’s ANT-MAN

Deadline reports that Patrick Wilson (Watchmen, Insidious), Matt Gerald (Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King) and Kevin Weisman will no longer appear in Marvel Studios’ ANT-MAN.

It was originally speculated that this was due to Edgar Wright’s departure as writer/director, but Marvel insiders “adamantly dispute that.” Instead it appears that the characters played by Gerald and Weisman were written out in the new version of the script by Adam McKay (Anchorman). The reason Wilson dropped out is due to scheduling conflicts due to the delay after Wright left and director Peyton Reed (Yes Man) took over.

More disappointing news from Marvel’s Ant-Man. I still have faith, but I really wanted to see what Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) could do with a Marvel film.

Synopsis: Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian and Michael Pena.

Ant-Man will hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
