King Kong Returns In Legendary Pictures’ SKULL ISLAND; Release Date Announced

July 27, 20140 Comments

At the Legendary Pictures Comic-Con panel, the company announced a new King Kong film titled SKULL ISLAND that will hit theaters on November 4th, 2016. They made the announcement with a teaser trailer featuring King Kong and his ground-shaking roar.

Guillermo del Toro, who was on hand to show Crimson Peak footage, is already rumored to be directing.

We’ve seen two remakes of King Kong in 1976 and 2005. Hopefully this new film is a prequel that takes place entirely on the island. That’s what I’d like to see.

Skull Island first appeared in the 1933 King Kong film. The fictional island is the home of Kong and many other unusual creatures – many of whom were thought to be extinct.
